About Kimberly

Kimberly Warner is a photographer and filmmaker based in Portland, Oregon. After receiving her degree in Pre-Med and Biology at Colorado College and pursuing her Masters degree at NCNM in Classical Chinese Medicine, Kimberly abruptly changed paths and has never looked back. Her work, still founded in a passion for the psychological and mythological patterns that influence healing, has traded herbs for a camera, prescriptions for storytelling. Commercial clients include: The Portland Clinic, Dehen Knitting, Portland State University, BRAVO Youth Orchestras, Simple Shoes, Recess Fitness, Crocs, NWEA, Nintendo, and Michelle DeCourcy Collections.

Kimberly explains the work by saying, “If given a super power, my choice is clear: invisibility. Rather than flying or lifting a bus, I would prefer to quietly sit unnoticed and watch the solitary lives of people unfold. Or in some cases, unravel. At the end of the day when the blinds are drawn and we’re alone, there is a quiet shedding of conditioning that lays exposed the vulnerable throat of our psyches. When alone in the sanctuaries of our homes, we become our true selves, unfettered by outward appearances and socially acceptable behavior. This series pushes back against psychological analysis and embraces the absurd, quirky sensuous and tragic worlds of our multifaceted existence. Home Alone is an invitation to become invisible and step inside the homes of strangers to observe, laugh, blush and ultimately witness ourselves.”
